The service department of Bakker Repair + Services traveled to Pointe Noire in Congo for inspection and repair of a shaft generator of anchor handling tug.
The Port Side Shaft Generator (2800 kVA) of the anchor handling tug failed to excite due to a broken connection between two coils of the main rotor. In close cooperation with the customer the visa were obtained as quickly as possible so that our Service engineers could leave for Congo fast.
Upon arrival the generator was partially disassembled to gain access to the position of the breakdown. The broken tail was repaired, generator reassembled and shaft generator was successfully commissioned.The tug left Pointe Noire to return to her normal duties, leaving behind a satisfied superintendent (and two service engineers).
