Bakker Repair + Services has purchased a new vacuum drying oven that replaces the old small thermal drying oven. The new drying method has several major advantages. The main advantages are less aging of the insulation material, a cleaner dryer, a significant increase in throughput and a 90% reduction in CO2 compared to the old drying oven.
The drying process of electric motors, generators and transformers is an important part of the business activities of Bakker Repair + Services. The company used conventional thermal drying for many years, but has now found a faster, more flexible and cleaner form.
Reduction of ageing process and cleaner machine
The special thing about vacuum drying is the low boiling point of +/- 30 to 40 degrees. With conventional thermal drying oven, the boiling point is 100 degrees. The new vacuum oven therefore remains at a much lower temperature than the conventional oven. As a result, the insulation material ages many times less than before. In addition, the boiling point is reached very quickly in comparison to the conventional oven. This has the advantage that the water evaporates faster and takes more dirt particles with it.
Shorter processing time
The low boiling point has the positive effect of shortening the processing time of the drying of electric motors, generators and transformers. The vacuum drying installation reaches temperature faster and cools down sooner. The low temperature also ensures that temperature-sensitive parts and wiring do not have to be disassembled. Both advantages mean a tripling of the drying capacity!
Making the workshop more sustainable
The arrival of the vacuum oven at Bakker Repair + Services not only means that the turnaround time is shortened but also results in a significant CO2 reduction of 90%. The old gas-powered drying oven used 120 KW. The new vacuum drying oven running on electricity consumes 18 KW. The purchase therefore also makes a major contribution to the desired environmental objective of making the workshop more sustainable.
